Why did you become a lawyer?

Interestingly enough, I had always expressed interest in becoming a lawyer, likely before I knew what that meant – despite not knowing any lawyers growing up. However, once I entered college, I participated in moot court and fell in love with legal writing, oral advocacy, and learning the law.

Tell us about your career path.

I initially took a strong interest in criminal law and explored that during law school. I completed several full-time co-ops through NUSL’s co-op program, including at the Massachusetts Appeals Court, for a solo practitioner doing federal RICO and murder defense, and for a boutique criminal defense firm. Immediately following law school, I spent a year clerking at the Massachusetts Appeals Court for the Honorable Justice Marguerite Grant, where I had the opportunity to dive deeper into many different areas of civil law. This was a turning point for me in my career path. After my clerkship, I spent some time doing civil defense at a mid-sized regional law firm, practicing in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. I now look forward to expanding into more civil litigation practice areas at RIW.

The firm felt like a great fit. It provides a warm and collegial environment and opportunities for attorney development and growth, which I am very excited about.
