Celine Ramsingh recently joined RIW as a paralegal in the Trusts & Estates practice. In her role, Celine works closely with the firm’s Trusts & Estates attorneys, providing support to clients navigating estate plans, estate administration, probate matters and corporate and real estate issues. Why did you become a paralegal?
I became a paralegal and am currently studying for law school because I’ve always been a strong advocate for others and working in this field encourages and embraces that.
Tell us about your career path.
I began working in the legal field as a summer intern with the Boston Bar Association in high school, after which I was offered a part-time legal assistant position within the in-house department of a major financial firm. From there I continued to work as a legal assistant and earned my associates degree majoring in paralegal studies. I then continued to work as a paralegal while pursuing my bachelor’s in legal studies and advocacy.
Tell us about what you do.
Trusts and estates work focuses on people who are either planning to leave a legacy or have left a legacy for their loved ones, through areas such as corporate/business, real estate or finance.
What do you love most about what you do?
As a first-generation American and a firstborn daughter of two Caribbean parents, I understand the importance of “coming from nothing.” What I love about this practice is that every day I get to advocate for families with similar backgrounds who were able to establish some sort of legacy for themselves and are now ensuring this legacy continues to the next generation.
Tell us a fun or surprising fact about you.
I am the proud pet mom of a red eared slider turtle and a Siberian husky.
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, you might find me at a car show (I like to modify cars).
